Prince Albert, Sask., January 6, 2025 - Classic Fire + Life Safety announces today the launch of a recruitment effort that will add part-time and full-time staff to its Saskatchewan team for the Prince Albert Victoria Hospital redevelopment project (PAVH).

As the official fire protection partner for the $898 million project in Prince Albert, Classic will work under the project’s general contractor, PCL Construction, and in partnership with Pow City Mechanical to install the hospital’s fire sprinkler systems.

Classic will participate in two career fairs at Saskatchewan Polytechnic — one at the Saskatoon campus on Feb. 11 and another at the Prince Albert campus on Feb. 13 — as part of its effort to bring on sprinkler fitter apprentices.

No experience is required to become a first-year apprentice. Pay starts at $24.72 per hour and Classic will help successful candidates join the UA Local 179 union. After a four-year apprenticeship, union sprinkler fitters will earn $45 per hour*.

In addition to competitive pay and career advancement, workers who are part of the Prince Albert Victoria Hospital redevelopment project will also help to significantly expand healthcare service to northern Saskatchewan. The project will add a multi-storey acute care tower to increase the hospital’s capacity by 40 per cent.
