Longer egress times, accessibility, evacuation, and multi-use buildings are examples of fire protection challenges that are unique to multi-unit high-rise buildings. All condominiums and high-rise buildings in Ontario must adhere to both NFPA and the Ontario Fire Code as it pertains to fire protection. It is designed to make sure that all occupied buildings in Ontario have the appropriate fire protection equipment, that it is properly maintained.
