nextstar - Classic Fire + Life Safety

Classic Fire + Life Safety is honoured to have been awarded the fire protection contract for the NextStar Electric Vehicle Battery plant in Windsor, ON by A-BM (Alberici/Barton Malow).

This is a 4.5 million sqaure foot facility that will be Canada's first large-scale lithium-ion battery production plant, and one of the largest in the world!

We started installing the base-building sprinkler system in January 2023, it is estimated that the length of this project will range from 18 months to 24 months.

Systems being installed include, in-rack sprinklers, fire pumps, special hazard supression, and base-building sprinkler system.

We are looking to expand our team of Sprinkler Fitters and Apprentices to install the cutting-edge sprinkler and fire suppression systems.

We look forward to working with all the trade partners on this landmark project.

NEXTSTAR FACTS

Located on approximately 220 acres of land at the corner of E.C. Row Expressway and Banwell Road in Windsor, ON.
Plant construction activities began in November 2022 with the installation of 66 38-meter h-piles.
The plant is expected to be fully operational by 2025.
Early production operations to launched in the first quarter of 2024.
The plant will be capable of producing 45 gigawatt hours of electricity and will employ 2,500 people. It's also expected to draw significant investment to the area from the supply chain servicing the plant.
NextStar Energy will play a key role in Stellantis' Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan, which sets the course for over 50% of vehicle sales in North America to be electric vehicles by the end of the decade.
The factory will supply half of Stellantis's battery needs for the North American market.
