Ottawa, Ont., May 6, 2024 – Two Ottawa-based fire protection companies, Classic Fire + Life Safety and Pyron Fire Protection will officially unite today. Pyron, a long-time fire alarm provider, will now operate as part of the Classic brand, and will migrate to Classic’s operating systems and platforms.

“We are extremely happy to officially welcome Pyron to our growing team,” says Francois Godin, CEO, Classic Fire + Life Safety. “We’ve been in Ottawa for some twenty years, so we know how competent and passionate the Pyron team is when it comes to fire protection and prevention. Ryan Licari and his team have built a great business, and we’re excited about our team’s future in the region.”

With the transition, Classic’s Ottawa branch now offers customers throughout the region full fire protection services, for fire alarm and sprinkler systems.

“Joining together strengthens our ability to service our growing customer base,” says Ryan, Licari current General Manager for Pyron. “Our office and field staff have gotten to know each other over the years, and we are excited to work even closer together going forward.”

All technicians, fitters, and office staff will continue to execute their existing roles and functions as part of the change. Ryan Licari will continue in his role as General Manager for the combined Ottawa team.

The two companies began exploring partnership opportunities in early 2023 and announced their union in the fall.

Classic began to invest in new partnerships in 2022, with the goal of becoming North America's premier fire protection company. In the past 2 years, Classic has successfully integrated five companies into its family – Fire Inspection Services (Burlington), Legacy Fire Protection (Calgary), Integrated Fire Protection (Kelowna), IF Wilson (Brampton), and now Pyron (Ottawa).

The approach, which has yielded benefits to all stakeholders, from employees to customers, is described by its CEO Francois Godin as a quest for mutually beneficial partnerships, versus an acquisition strategy.

“We approach all our partnerships in the same way,” concludes Godin. “It’s mutual and it begins with a conversation between two parties with similar family-centric values, who are interested in exploring how a partnership can benefit all parties.”
